Barry Van Lare

Barry Van Lare, an independent consultant and a Fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration, is a former deputy executive director of the National Governors Association. He has held a variety of federal-government positions, including leadership posts with the Department of Energy and the Department of Health and Human Services. He is a former commissioner of the Erie County Department of Social Services, director of the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services' Division of Community Services, and executive deputy and acting commissioner of the New York State Department of Social Services. His private-sector positions include senior vice president for strategic marketing for MAXIMUS Inc. and senior manager for Deloitte & Touche Consulting.
