Dennis Daugaard, a Republican, is a former governor of South Dakota, completing his second term in January 2019. Daugaard served as lieutenant governor from 2003 to 2011 and as a state senator from 1997 to 2003, and has worked as an attorney, banker and executive director of the nonprofit Children's Home Society of South Dakota.
Daugaard received his law degree from Northwestern University and his bachelor's degree in government from the University of South Dakota.
