E. Gordon Gee is the president of West Virginia University, his second stint in that position after serving as its president from 1980 to 1985. He also has led the University of Colorado, Brown University, Vanderbilt University and Ohio State University. He is the co-author of more than a dozen books, including 2018's Land-Grant Universities for the Future: Higher Education for the Public Good, written with Stephen M. Gavazzi.
Gee was elected to the board of directors of the American Council on Education in 2015, served as chair of the Big 12 Board of Directors Executive Committee for the 2017-18 year, and currently serves on the council of presidents for the Southern University Research Association. He earned his J.D. and Ed.D. degrees from Columbia University.
