Joseph Mead is an assistant professor at Cleveland State University, where he holds a joint appointment in the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs and the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law. His research largely focuses on nonprofit law and management, constitutional and administrative law, and the criminalization of homelessness. His work with students has led to changes in numerous city laws.
Mead holds a law degree from the University of Michigan. Before joining academia, he worked for the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.
