Pamela Tate has been the president and CEO of the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning since 1990, working to make it easier for adults to get education and training to succeed and remain employable. Those efforts have included helping colleges and universities develop Prior Learning Assessment programs and improve the quality of their services for working learners. She also has worked with employers on tuition-assistance policy, career and educational advising, and exemplary practices in employee learning and development.
Tate currently serves on the board of trustees for Excelsior College, which honored her in 2013 for her work to expand opportunities for adult learners, and is a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation's Commission on Quality Assurance and Alternative Higher Education.
Tate completed her doctoral coursework at the University of Pennsylvania's Annenberg School of Communications and earned master's degrees in English and journalism from the University of Illinois at Champaign.
