Wayne Scott manages learning and organizational development initiatives for Multnomah County, Ore., including the Multnomah Leadership Academy, which he conceptualized, researched, piloted and developed in 2009. The program received a 2011 Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties for being "an innovative and effective program which contributes to and enhances county government." Prior to his current position, he managed mental health and addictions treatment programs for the county.
Scott also teaches in the School of Social Work at Portland State University and consults regionally on trauma-informed care; clinical supervision and ethics; evidence-based practice; leadership in human services; and disruption, adaptation and innovation at the community and organizational levels of practice.
His professional and creative writings have appeared in publications including The Oregonian, Salon.com, The Psychotherapy Networker, Clinical Social Work Journal and Differential Diagnosis and Treatment in Social Work, as well as forums such as the National Institute of Corrections and Portland Ignite.
Scott holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Chicago and a master of fine arts degree from American University.
