The new, lower tax rate for Wisconsin’s third income tax bracket under a tax cut proposed by Assembly Republicans on Tuesday, Aug. 29; the previous rate was 5.3 percent tax for individual incomes between $27,630 and $304,170 and joint incomes between $36,840 and $405,550. The legislators have suggested using the state’s projected $4 billion budget surplus to fund the cut.
