The number of Alaska Native mushers who have won the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race after Ryan Redington triumphed on Tuesday, March 14. Redington is the grandson of Joe Redington Sr., who helped co-found the race in 1973 and is known as the “Father of the Iditarod”; additionally, Redington’s father is a 10-time finisher of the race. It was Redington’s 16th attempt at the race.
