The average American life expectancy, a decrease from 2020’s expected 77 years old. The decrease in 2021 is the second year in a row that the life expectancy has dropped and it was the biggest drop in nearly 100 years. Even more dramatic was the life expectancy change among American Indian and Alaskan Native people, dropping from 67.1 in 2020 to 65.2 in 2021.
