The point decrease in the average eighth grade math score as ranked by the National Assessment of Educational Progress, the lowest level since 2003. The assessment is given every two years, but the pandemic delayed the 2021 test until this year. The average fourth grade math score also decreased, by five points, to its lowest level since 2005.
