Number of counties, amounting to nearly 40 percent of the total, with no public electric vehicle chargers, according to a report from the research organization CivicPulse. Although most counties without public charging infrastructure are largely rural, with fewer than 25,000 residents, 14 percent of counties that have a population of more than 25,000 — the median population for the more than 3,100 U.S. counties — did not have a public charger as of June 2024.
