The size of an accounting error in South Carolina’s annual financial report in 2022. An outside forensic audit that looked into the state’s books reported this week that at least $1.6 billion of the wrongfully counted money was essentially made up and not real cash. One state senator is calling on Treasurer Curtis Loftis to resign.
