The number of seats in the Rhode Island General Assembly, 38 in the Senate and 75 in the House, all of which are up for election this year.

However, despite the high number of electable seats, only 18 of the primaries were contested, the fewest since 2010. Rhode Island is one of nine states that saw their lowest number of total contested primaries since 2010. Rhode Island’s primary election is Sept. 10, 2024.
