The number of confirmed tornadoes so far this month, as of July 22, that have hit New York, the most since 1992 when the state saw 13.

The storms have impacted 15 counties and the EF2 tornado that touched down in Rome was the strongest recorded in Oneida county since July 23, 1990. Illinois has also had a record-breaking year so far when it comes to tornadoes, with already double the state’s annual average.
