The share of power generated by renewable sources in the European Union last year. Back in 2019, renewables made up 34 percent of the EU’s power sources, which represents better than 60 percent growth over the past five years. Over the same period, fossil fuels have declined from a 39 percent share to 29 percent. Solar has been the fastest-growing source, providing more power than coal last year for the first time.
