The number of voters in Orange County, Fla., who had requested an absentee ballot for the August primary as of last week. That is less than half the number who requested mail ballots in the 2020 and 2022 primaries. A Florida law enacted in 2021 wiped out standing mail ballot requests for nearly 3 million voters last year, meaning they have to sign up again if they prefer to vote by mail.
