Amount in federal, state and local taxes paid by undocumented immigrants in 2022, according to a new study from the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy.
The study reported that in 40 states, undocumented immigrants paid more in taxes than the top 1 percent of the income scale in those states; that six states raised more than $1 billion each in tax revenue from undocumented immigrants; and that undocumented immigrants pay 46 percent of their state and local taxes through sales and excise levies.
