Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo, a Republican who vetoed a bill passed by the Democratic-controlled Legislature to pause evictions for tenants applying for emergency assistance. Though eviction filings in Las Vegas appear to be trending down from last year, they were 28 percent higher than pre-pandemic norms for the month of May, according to the Eviction Lab, a research unit at Princeton University.
