Macomb County, Mich., Relies Heavily on the Cloud

The county also is working on a data analytics pilot to assess how offenders move through the public safety and courts system.

Sandy Jurek, CIO, Macomb County, Mich.
In Michigan's Macomb County, officials have turned to cloud computing for hosting of their email and financial systems, which CIO Sandy Jurek says is a diverse approach to use of the cloud.

Jurek, who spoke with Government Technology at the 2015 Michigan Digital Government Summit in Lansing, also said the county is working on a data analytics pilot to assess how offenders move through the public safety and courts system; officials are harnessing data from local police lockups, jails, and district and circuit courts to build a data warehouse that will help them look at how to use that data to inform business decisions.
